Attendance Preparation and Homework (5%+10%+ 15% of your grade)
Your attendance grade is based on if you are here every day for class, you come prepared to class and you check in/check out with Mr. Loreto throughout class.
Your preparation for class is to take care of yourself. Respect yourself. Ask to use the bathroom. Ask questions. Use extra lab time if you need extra help.
Your homework for this class is to make up any assignments that you are not able complete in class. This website is accessible outside of school.
Daily Journal. (Classwork 50% of your grade)
Everyday you will be writing in class. You must write something new in your journal everyday. Each entry starts with your heading and then your writing for the day. In your journals, you are to respond to the postings on this website or you may answer any of the following questions:
1. What is on your mind today?
2. What is something interesting that happened this week?
3. I wish…. (and fill in the rest of the statement to make it true).
4. Or, you may ask Mr. Loreto for a prompt.
Classwork. (Classwork 50% of your grade)
Classwork in room 313 is using the computers, writing your journals and creating your final projects. The class is centered around this idea that you need to explore and discover your talents and interests. You will receive class work credit if you are doing the following:
1. You are in your work station every day. This is your space to create and to make your own while you are exploring in Creative Writing.
2. You are able to log in, save your work (into your folder) and log out. Remember it is important to keep your work safe and private.
3. You are using the appropriate programs to complete your work (iLife 09, iWork 09, Photobooth and Firefox).
4. You are working with your partner and/or group on projects. And you help each other out when learning to use the computer.
5. You check in, ask questions and check out. It is important that you provide talk about what you need and how you are doing in Creative Writing. It will help make the class a better place to learn and also it might inspire you or others.
Projects (Classwork 50% + Assessments 20% of your grade)
You have one or two projects that are due at the conclusion of your exploratory time in Creative Writing.
6th and 7th Grade have one project due.
You may choose to do an iMovie, Keynote Presentation or a piece of written text in Pages.
8th Grade has two projects due.
You will have to complete an iMovie and/or a Keynote Presentation.
Or you may choose to do a iMovie or Keynote Presentation and a piece of written text in Pages.
iMovie requirements (must contain the following):
- photographs
- video
- audio (either music and/or narration)
- transitions between media clips
- titles including a title page and an end credits page
- must be 1 to 2 minutes in duration
Keynote Presentation requirements (must contain the following):
- must be at least 12 slides in length
- must be an automatically timed Keynote that is exported as a Quicktime file
- photographs
- transitions between slide
- transitions in slide of bullet points, et cetera.
- titles including a title page and an end credits page
- title page must include:
- name,
- date
- title of Keynote Presentation
- name of class
- name of homeroom teacher

Assignment # 2: What is on your mind (Journal Entry) Slide Show
- Create a slide show that is at least 8 slides long
- Show in your slide show what you have learned (i.e. change font: size, color, type, use media: photos and videos, use masters, use shapes, use more than one theme, et cetera.)
Pages Assignment, consult with Mr. Loreto
You will be taking a journal writing and revising it so that it either a story, a poem, an essay or other piece of writing.
