Perfect Day

24 03 2010

Describe the perfect day. Give as many details as possible. Provide the setting. The setting is the time and place in a piece of writing or an event. This includes the time of day, year, et cetera. The place where it is including details like the weather, the scenery, the sights, the sounds, the smells, et cetera. Read the example below if you need to get started. Use the words, “A perfect day would be…” to begin.

Mr. Loreto Example:

A perfect day would be one where the phone did not ring. A day where I did not have to do any homework. Or a day where I did not have to drive anywhere. A day I did not have to use my computer. Instead, I would drive in my car to some place far far away. A new place to explore. I would start early in the morning. Take a shower and get dressed. I would wear shorts because it would be nice and cool outside. Sixty degrees is the perfect temperature. I would drive until I found a new diner. One that has pancakes, eggs and orange juice. Then I would leave from my breakfast and meet some new friends. We’d go to a park and maybe play some basketball. Or we’d sit and play some cards. Or maybe listen to the radio and chill.

The Influence: One person I look up to is…

24 03 2010

Who are the people who have influenced your life? People that you look up to as a model of a person you would like to be like or not like.
Think of those people that are important to you.
Write about one or two of these people.
Describe what type of person they are.
Talk about something they did to get your attention or something they did for you.

Look at example below for ideas.
You may also use the following words to help get started.

“ One person I look up to is______________________ (fill in the blank) because they have ________________ .”

Mr. Loreto example.

One person I look up to is my brother Emil because he has always been a good model of what I can do. Growing up with a brother, it is hard not to be compared to my brother. Emil is nine years older than me and I always wanted to do what he did. When Emil played Nintendo, I wanted to play Nintendo. When Emil played basketball, I wanted to play basketball. When Email started to listen to all types of music, I wanted to buy CDs, too. Emil was always cool. And he always did good.

Another person that I look up to is my teacher Dr. Yates because she got me to read. I was a bad student. I still can be a bad student. There are two things that are important to me as a student. I need to love what the teacher is talking about or love the teacher. With Dr. Yates, she got me to love both. I had Dr. Yates for a Language Arts class in high school and I never read the book when it was assigned. I got by in class copying off of my friends and reading summaries on the Internet. I knew what happened in the books, but didn’t really know about it. Dr.Yates would challenge the class to read. She told us about all different things in the books. About double meanings and how we can relate books to our lives. She challenged us to read books twice. She helped me look at books differently and life differently.

Future: 10 years? 100 years? 1000 years?

24 03 2010

Write about what you think life will be like in the future? 20 years from  now in 2030? 100 years from now in 2110? 1000 years from now in 3010? You choose.

  • Write about the people.
  • Write about the food.
  • Write about the technology.
  • Write about the places we will live.

In the year 3010, people no longer use cars or trains or planes. Instead, everyone is able to walk everywhere. Or if you go somewhere far, you slip on your Nike HYPER AIR ZYX dubs and you can run as fast as you can blink.

In the year 3010, everyone will know everyone. Life is a party. And everyone is invited.

In the year 3010, the Cubs will win a world series after losing to the White Sox for 200 straight years.

In the year 3010, we will be able to eat anything we want. We will eat by thinking of a food and it will appear before your eyes. I’m thinking cheeseburger. POOF! Cheeseburger deluxe with cheese, avocado and egg.

In the year 3010, people will vacation in Plupiter, a hotel chain that has hotels on every planet in the galaxy. The best place to go is Pluto for skiing and Jupiter for Sun bathing.
