Final day of creative writing. Today we will be finishing our journals, our slide shows and we will be sharing. Today you will play your shows and see what your classmates have been doing for the past three weeks. We will also be reflecting on creative writing and how much you learned in class.

Finish Journals and Slide Shows:

  • The first part of class, instead of your journal, save your journals and make sure you have them all saved as Word documents and PowerPoint presentations.
Save your journal as a WORD document.
Save your slide shows as a PowerPoint presentation.
Open your first class account and keep it open.

Save to FIRST CLASS:

  • You should start to begin the habit of saving all of your completed work onto your first class FILE STORAGE. You should always have a copy of your finished work some place you can always access (your FIRST CLASS account).
  • Look on your first class desktop and select “FILE STORAGE” icon.
  • A new window will appear titled FILE STORAGE.
  • The toolbar has three main buttons that say UPLOAD, DOWNLOAD and NEW.
  • Choose NEW to make a new folder and title it Creative Writing 2010.
  • Click on folder/select folder to open it.
  • Click on UPLOAD and a new FINDER window will appear.
  • Find the file you would like to save and click UPLOAD
  • Wait for upload to finish and close upload status window.
  • Repeat.

Complete CREATIVE WRITING FINAL ASSIGNMENT:
This is a survey that asks you several questions about creative writing. Please answer all questions and be honest. Take your time and complete the survey.

  • This is the second to last day of class. In class today, we will be doing several things. We will be:
  • writing our last journal entry in creative writing journal
  • saving your journal as a word document
  • finishing final slide show projects
  • slide shows are

(1) My Perfect Day,
(2) My Photo Slide Show,
and (3) your choice of slide show options from your journal

JOURNAL:
If you could give advice to the students that are new to Hernandez Middle School, what would you tell them? What do they need to know so that they can be successful at Hernandez Middle School? Suggest three things that they should do to be the best Huskies they can be.

SAVING Journal as a WORD Document.

  • Students should first save their journal (shortcut is Command + S, or can click on FILE and choose SAVE)
  • Click on FILE in MENU BAR.
  • Select SAVE AS and let go of mouse.
  • A “SAVE AS” window will appear. It looks similar to a FINDER window.
  • Look below the columns in the center. You will find two boxes that can be selected by clicking.
  • Select the second/box on the bottom that says SAVE COPY AS
  • Once you select it, the drop down menu will highlight and you have a choice.
  • Select Word Document as your choice.
  • Make sure that the file will save into YOUR FOLDER before you click save.
  • Click SAVE.

COMPLETE YOUR SLIDE SHOWS

  • Below is a checklist to use while reviewing your slide shows. All the items below must be complete before you turn in your slide show.
  • Title Slide with your heading.
  • Correct Spelling and Punctuation.
  • Slides are in the correct order.
  • Credits Slide at the end of slide show.
  • Thank You Slide after the Credits Slide.
  • Blank Slide at the end.
