Can I ask you a question?

27 10 2009

Today you will interview your partner.

You will need to ask them questions.

But before you can start, you will need questions.

Questions are made for the purpose of finding answers.

You write questions to know something about something.

In this case, you will ask questions about your partner.

In your journal, write down a question using each of the 5 W’s and an H question words…

WHO

WHAT

WHEN

WHERE

WHY

HOW

Some question words are harder to ask than others. Do your best to write questions using the words above that will create answers that you’d like to know.

Question Writing Tips

  • Ask questions that will lead to explanations.
  • Avoid questions that can be answered with one word.
  • Try to make questions that are related to each other. i.e. Mr. Loreto’s Questions are all about writing and learning.

Mr. Loreto’s Questions

1. Who has been your best teacher? Not your favorite, the person that taught you the most.

2. What did that teacher teach you?

3. When is the best time for you to write?

4. Where is the best place for you to write?

5. Why is that time and why is that place so good for you to write?

6. How do you learn?
