September Ends…..

30 09 2009

September is almost over.

Think about the past month and write a summary of what has happened in your life. You can write it how you like, it must include a description about things that occurred in September.

Below is an example.

September

My September

by Mr. Loreto

September birthdays. Many friends including two of my best ones, my mother, my nephew, my cousins, aunts and friends. September was the end of summer and the beginning of school. Learned a lot. Things like how to write in computer code and make my own web site. The White Sox lost and so did the Cubs. But the Bears are doing well and the Blackhawks and Bulls look good too.

I am a fan.

23 09 2009

If you are a fan, that means you not only like

something, you LOVE it.

There are many types of fans: sports fans, music fans, food fans, tv fans. Write about something you are a fan of.

Option 1(One Thing I truly love): It could be anything. Write what you are a fan of and give an example of how you are a fan or why you are a fan.

Option 2 (Lots of things I love): Make a list of things you are a fan of using by completing the statement I am a fan of….  Try to think of ten things you can list.

See Example Below.

Follow Directions

22 09 2009

People are given directions every day.

Especially when you are a kid, you get directions from all sorts of people: parents, teachers, security guards, crossing guards, bus drivers, and on and on.

Write about a time when you were given directions and you just didn’t want to follow them. What happened? What about those directions made you want to say, “No”?

Think about the time, the place, the other people involved and the exact wording of those directions.

Clean Room

by Mr. Loreto

As a kid, I never liked to clean my room. Whenever I asked my mother for something, it would be followed with the question, “Is your room clean?” If I said no then it would be followed with, “Go clean your room.”

Now I understand why you should clean your room. It is easier to find things. It is healthier to keep a clean room. And it smells better. But being ten years old or so, I thought this way, “It’s clean to me. It’s how I live. Why should I have to clean it my Mom’s way?”

The time I realized I needed to keep my room clean was when I could not find my Atari Lynx. If you do not know what that is, think about a Nintendo DS or a PSP way back in 1992. It was way cooler than a game boy because it was in color and had 16 bit graphics like a Turbo Graphix 16 or Sega Genesis. Now I wish someone would remind me to keep my room clean. I remember to clean it every time I can not find something. Has anyone seen my iPod?

If I could change the world…

21 09 2009

What are three things you would change in the world?
Think about three things in the world that you believe should be different. In your journal, list the three things that need to be changed in the world. Explain why you would make this change and how you would change it.

Example by Mr. Loreto

If I could change three things in the world, I would change tv, lunch and siestas.

The first thing I would change is tv. I would make it so that every channel was like that Comcast On Demand. You know, the feature on your cable that let’s you choose what to watch. Instead of it being only some things for free, I’d make it all for free. That way, I could have the Fresh Prince of Bel Air playing all day!

The second thing I’d do is I’d make everyone eat lunch. A lot of people don’t eat lunch and I think that is why they are not happy. After you eat, you are usually in a better mood than you were before when you were hungry.

And the best thing to do after a nice good lunch, is to sleep. So I’d make it an option of kids to have either recess or to take a siesta after lunch. It works for pre school kids and they are usually so happy and full of energy. I want to be like that!

Favorite Day of the Week

18 09 2009

September 18, 2009

It’s Friday today. For a lot of people, today is their favorite day of the week. And there is good reason for Friday being the best day of the week. For some people it means they get a paycheck. For others it means no school or work on Saturday. And usually, for everyone it means the start of the weekend. It means time to play. But, not everyone thinks Friday is the best day of the week.

In your journal, write down what your favorite day of the week is and explain why that day is your favorite.

Below is an example, Mr. Loreto’s favorite day of the week.

Everyone loves Friday. Most people hate or love Monday. I know people that love Sunday. Wednesday gets love for being hump day meaning the week is half over. In college, students start their weekends on Thursdays. And Saturday gets love for being a lazy day for most.

But my favorite day is Tuesday. Yes, my favorite day is Tuesday. Tuesday is the day that new music is released in the stores which means new sounds and words to beat on my ear drums like when you’re banging on the bathroom door telling your sister, “Get out of the bathroom, I need to use it too!”

I started my love for Tuesdays when I was in high school when a friend and I would go to Best Buy every Tuesday after basketball practice to see what was new. Though, now that I have other bills and can not afford to just go to the store every Tuesday to buy CDs, I’m starting to have more love for Fridays.
