Journal:

Start class by writing your daily thoughts and finishing your “10 things about me”

Your writing should have the following:

  • Each statement should be true.
  • After each statement, you should give a three to four sentence explanation of why and/or how the statement is true.
  • Change the style of the writing to reflect your personality. Some tips:
  1. Change the color of the font to emphasize words.
  2. Change the size of the font to emphasize words.

PHOTO BOOTH

Today you will take some photos. You will do the following:

Photograph- is another form of writing. Agree or disagree?

  1. Take photographs using photograph booth program. (Take at least five pictures. Portrait. Profile left. Profile right. Right hand. Left hand. And any objects you may want to take photos.)
  2. Save photographs in your folder.
  3. Rename your photographs
  4. Delete photos in photo booth.
  5. Make a table in your journal.
  6. Copy and paste photographs into your table.
  7. Save
  8. Write a caption for each photograph

  • You are given $1 million dollars to take a month long trip.
Here are the requirements for your trip:
  • You are allowed to take up to five people with you.
  • And you must go to some place you have never been.
  • You must learn something new.
  • You must eat something you have never eaten before.
  • You must visit at least two different time zones.
  • You must hear a language you have never heard before.
  • And you must spend ALL of your money.

In your journal you must explain how you will meet all the requirements for your trip. Think about who you would take. Think about where you would go. Think about how you would spend your money. Think about what you would do.

Write about the homework object you brought to class. Answer the following questions:

Keynote  Guide

Keynote: Keynote is a slide show productivity program. It is similar to Microsoft’s PowerPoint. You can use a slide show for many different things. In Creative Writing, we will use Keynote to help transform our writings into slide shows and/or movies.

Getting Started. (Theme Chooser + New Slide+ Play)

  1. To get started, you will locate the Keynote icon in the dock. Click on it once and it will launch.
  2. The theme chooser is the first window you see. Choose one theme you like by clicking on it and then clicking “choose” in the lower right hand corner of the theme chooser.
  3. Click on the title slide that appears and fill in the top box with the name of your slide show. In the box below, fill in your name and classroom.
  4. Click the “+” button in the top left corner of your window to add a new slide.
  5. Click the  “Play” button in the top left corner, second from the left of your window to see a preview of your slide show.

Customizing your Slide Show. (Themes + Masters)

  1. Themes button. The themes button is located in the top left hand corner of your window, the fifth button from the left hand end. Click on this button to change the theme of your slide. To change the theme of your entire slide show, select all your slides. Then click on the theme button to choose a new theme.
  2. Masters button. The masters button is located in the top left hand corner of your window, the sixth button from the left hand end.

JOURNAL OPTION:  Perfect Day Journal

Describe the perfect day. Give as many details as possible. Provide the setting. The setting is the time and place in a piece of writing or an event. This includes the time of day, year, et cetera. The place where it is including details like the weather, the scenery, the sights, the sounds, the smells, et cetera. Read the example below if you need to get started. Use the words, “A perfect day would be…” to begin.

Grabbing images from the Internet.

Open your journal and we will fill in the picture column of your “Things that Make Me Happy” table. We will search for images to match the items on your list.

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Go to google.
  3. Edit options.
  4. Type the name of object in search field.
  5. click on images tabs.
  6. choose image.
  7. select see full image.
  8. save into folder.
  9. drag image into  table
  10. change settings in inspector for text wrapping

Students will be introduced to the photo booth program that allows students to take photographs with the built in iSight/Webcam Camera on the iMac computers. The program photo booth allows students to take still photos, photos in a series and video.

  1. Locate Photo Booth Icon in your dock.
  2. Open Photo Booth by clicking once.
  3. Tour of buttons in Photo Booth Menu.
  4. close, maximize buttons located in top left hand corner of window

Homework for Tuesday, April 13, 2010

Bring in an object from home that relates to something you do that makes you happy. This object must be able to fit in your pocket, book bag and/or your blue binder. It must be something that will not be confiscated by school staff. If you are not sure if it is ok, then ask Mr. Loreto.
