Using Photo Booth: A Beginner’s Guide

18 02 2010

Apple computers come with a built in camera that is used in a fun portrait photography program called Photo Booth.

Getting Started.

You will find your Photo Booth Icon on the bottom of your screen in the dock. Click on this icon once and it will open up the program. Once it opens, you will see a green light appear on the top of your screen in  the black frame. You will also see the Photo Booth window appear. And you will likely see your face appear in the window as your camera is ready to take a picture.

Photo Booth Window

The window that appears is smaller than most application windows. Below are a list of features you should be aware of in your Photo Booth Window.

  • There are three circles on the top left hand corner to close and minimize. There is no option to make the window bigger.
  • The toolbar is in the center of the window underneath the screen that displays the camera view or photos taken.
  • There are five buttons.
  • The three buttons on the left determine the mode of the camera (still photograph portrait, a group of four still photograph portraits and a video option).
  • The center button is the shutter/record button. When you click it, you will take a photograph or video.
  • The last button is an effects feature that allows you change backgrounds or the lens of the camera.

Taking a Picture

  1. Turn on Photo Booth.
  2. Select still photograph portrait or  a group of four still photograph portraits.
  3. Click Shutter/Record Button.
  4. Wait for countdown (3…. 2…. 1….)
  5. Smile.
  6. Picture will appear as a film strip on the bottom.

Think about the responsibilities and powers that our President, currently Barrack Obama, possesses. What would you do if you had those responsibilities and powers?

Some powers and responsibilities the President has:
The President makes bills into Laws.
The President is the commander of the United States military.
The President proposes a budget that shows how the government will spend it’s money.
